Good Omens is a 6 episode miniseries produced by Amazon Studios and BBC Studios. It is based on the novel by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman and the series was written and created by Gaiman, who also served as showrunner.

In the show you follow a demon named Crowley (David Tennant) and an angel called Aziraphale (Michael Sheen), who seek to work together in order to prevent the coming of the Antichrist, Armageddon and the end of the world.

I can’t go around pretending to be an expert in either Terry Pratchett or Niel Gaiman’s work, although I have read a few of Pratchett’s Discworld series. However having watched this I think I need to go back and read some more as Good Omens is right up my alley.

Tennant and Sheen play off each other excellently and the supporting cast are brilliant too. I particularly enjoyed Jon Hamm as the angel Gabriel. “Who summons the four horsemen of the apocalypse?” he is asked. “Not my department” he responds. Brilliant!

It’s funny, clever and daft all the while being heart warming and sincere. This is an extremely pleasant and enjoyable show. I highly recommend it.

If you have and Amazon Prime count then Good Omens is a must watch and I’ve got good news to anyone who doesn’t have an account, this series will also be broadcast on BBC Two. Huzzahh!

Verdict: Thumbs Up
