Review – Money In The Bank (2017)

Women’s Championship
Naomi (c) defeated Lana

I think I’ve made it clear in the past that I do not care too much for Naomi. Her character has also been shown to be a massive dummy as well. First she mocks Lana for wanting an opportunity in the Women’s MITB ladder match, then ends up having to give her a one on one title match instead. Idiot. Also, WWE have once again shown that they can’t book good guys. Naomi was a down right bitch to Lana for no reason. However, the champion should never, ever come out first! Stop this madness WWE!

This match was incredibly slow, boring almost. Lana dominates the majority of the contest much to the commentators surprise. Apparently nobody in WWE is aware that Lana has been wrestling house shows for NXT for months. So this whole ‘first match’ shtick isn’t really working.

I don’t think the fans really cared about this match, I certainly didn’t. It briefly picks up when Carmella and James Ellsworth hilariously fake a cash in with her briefcase already. This distracts Lana who gets caught in Naomi’s submission finisher and is forced to tap out. This didn’t entire scenario didn’t make Namoi look very good. Firstly she shows herself to be a horrible person, but then almost loses to someone who she thought was rubbish. Good work idiot.

The Fashion Files/The Fashion Police vs. The Ascension

Oh how I love me some Fashion Police. I can’t tell you how glad I am that they are being given time on shows. Fandango and Tyler Breeze are both incredibly talented but also very funnier as their skits with the Fashion Files continue to show.

The duo are challenged to a match by their silhouetted attackers via a VHS tape. Those attackers turn out to be The Ascension, who they promptly beat in a match later in the evening. Surely there has to be more to this story than just The Ascension though? It all seems to simple. American Alpha perhaps?

Mike and Maria Kanellis Debut

Out of nowhere we have the debut of Mike Bennet, sorry Mike Kanellis. The first lady of wrestling and her husband debut straight onto the main roster, I did not expect to see this! Their gimmick looks like it is pure cheese but I loved every moment of it and JBL’s bewilderment afterwards at Mike taking her last name was actually fantastic. Also that theme song, yes. 100% yes!
