Sex sells. Don’t believe me? Take a look at Jessica Nigri.

I think it’s somewhat fair to say that when the idea of ‘cosplayers’ comes up, most people who have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about think of Jessica Nigri. She’s been near the top of that mountain for years now, back in 2014 she was named in the top ten of most popular cosplayers. How that list is decided I have no idea though…

However, there is a big difference between being popular and being successful. Nigri is popular because she’s a very attractive woman who likes to show of a lot of flesh. I think it’s fair to say that this is the main reason she has attracted an audience. I mean that with no disrespect.

The reason I think she’s successful though is her online social media presence. She’s constantly updating her Facebook, Instagram and Twitter with a flow of new pictures and updates as well as various other outlets. Her youtube channel has over a million subscribers, with her videos mostly just being her opening the ridiculous amounts of fan mail she is sent and pulling stupid faces. It’s during these videos that she shows of her personality which keeps people coming back. Yes, people are going to click on her videos because the thumbnails tend to have ample amounts of cleavage showing but you don’t get over 1 million subscribers from having big boobs and big boobs alone. Or, maybe you do and I’m just really naive…

Back in January, Nigri set up a Patreon account, in which fans donate money to support her directly. Within a week, she reached 714 patreons and earnings of about $8,872 per month, as of writing this article that patreon now generates just under $30,000 a month. That’s nuts! Yet, I am convinced that she wouldn’t get anywhere near as much if she didn’t have her facebook, twitter and youtube accounts. She’s mastered social media and is making some serious money as a result. That is what ultimately makes her successful.
