Money In The Bank (Predictions)

We’re roughly an hour away from Money In The Bank 2016. According to WWE, it’s the biggest ever. Also according to WWE Mark Henry and Mae Young have a hand for a son, so who are you really going to trust? Anyway, I thought I’d do a really quick predictions post because they’re always fun, am I right lads?

Pre-Show

Let’s start with the Pre-Show, as that seems like the only sensible thing to do. I’m not going to leave it till last after all am I? That would be nuts. We get two tag teams matches, neither are exciting so let’s get them out of the way.

Firstly you’ve got The Lucha Dragons Vs The Dudley Boys in a match of ‘who desperately needs a win more’. Truth is, I don’t care. However I’m going to say the Dudley’s will pick up the victory, mainly because I don’t think both face tag teams will win. Which obviously means Goldust and R-Truth will win in Golden Truth Vs Breezango, in another match I couldn’t care less about.

Winners: The Dudley Boys and Golden Truth.

Main Show

Dolph Ziggler Vs Baron Corbin

Oh please tell me this is the end of this feud. It’s been going no where for months and isn’t doing either guys any favours. I’m saying Corbin will win mainly because in my head he stills needs a few wins under his belt to be taken seriously. However, this is WWE so maybe Ziggler will win this awful feud and go on to do absolutely nothing again.

Winner: Baron Corbin

Charlotte & Dana Brooke Vs Natalya & Becky Lynch

Is it me or has the Women’s division starting looking like the old Divas division from afew years ago? Silly storylines, bad booking decisions…oh and, the title not being defended on PPV and instead we get a meaningless tag team match? Sounds about right.

Charlotte’s been losing quite a few matches on TV as of late, including to Paige in less than five minutes. So that probably means her team will win tonight, probably via cheating shenanigans.

Winner: Charlotte and Dana Brooke Continue reading

NXT Takeover: The End… (Predictions)

So it turns out this isn’t actually the end of NXT after all. Thank God. If WWE had ended the program it wouldn’t have been too long till I stopped watching the product altogether. If you’ve listened to Dan and I’s most recent podcast for EXTREME RULES you’d know I’m out of the love with the product somewhat. I no longer watch Raw or Smackdown and even NXT has taken a hit too. I’m still just about sticking in for the PPV’s though.

You could say I’m somewhat out of the loop and you’d be right but wrestling is wrestling so I think I can still get a good read on the results. I’m expecting something big to happen at some point during the show, I just don’t know what. It could be a debut or a title change or something else. Either way I’m excited. Anyway, let’s see who I’ve got to win tonight!

Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas vs. Tye Dillinger

Let’s be honest, Tye Dillinger makes people look good. That’s pretty much his job and he’s damn good at it. Apollo Crews hasn’t looked better in ring or personality wise since he’s debut match against him.

It says a lot for WWE’s confidence in him to keep giving him this responsibility, even if it must be frustrating to be a talent over with the crowd who wont be given a push of his own.

In honesty, I don’t know much about Almas, but I’m expecting this match to be a good introduction for me.

Winner: Andrade Almas

Tag Titles: American Alpha (c) vs. The Revival

Now then, it’s time to go crazy. I think we might be in for a shock here. As you’ll learn, I haven’t got any title changes predicted for tonight. Which got me thinking, maybe they’ll be a shock. I can’t see it coming from anything other than this match up.

American Alpha are huge fan favourites but I loved the heel work that Dash and Dawson have been doing for a long time now. I think it would be a great idea for them to cheat to win back the titles again so soon. After all, you don’t tend to get short title runs in NXT, so not many people would see it coming.

That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if American Aplha did just pick up the victory however I’m going out on a limb here. Will it pay off?

Winners: The Revival

Womens Title: Asuka (c) vs. Nia Jax

This is a weird one, Asuka is the top of the women’s division having beaten Bayley back in Dallas so you’d expect her to be on top for a while. That said, Nia Jax is a monster in NXT and she already lost her first title challenge so, to continue to look like a big bad dominant heel she does need a big win sooner rather than later.

Having said that you’d probably expect me to pick her as the winner here, but no. Asuka will walk away champion this time.

Winner: Asuka

Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Austin Aries

Match of the night, right here. I’m expecting something really special. Both competitors are new to NXT but Nakamura is definitely getting the bigger push. He’s the number one in NXT for now.

So it’s clear I think Nakamura is going to be winning this one, but what’s really important is the quality. This should be a blinder. It’ll be interesting to see where Aries goes from here though.

Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura

NXT Title: Samoa Joe (c) vs. Finn Bálor

This is the match I’m really expecting to see some fireworks in. I don’t know what’s coming, but if this is ‘the end’ for this feud then it’s going to be good. Hopefully at least, NXT doesn’t tend to disappoint at any rate.

I’ve heard some people saying they wouldn’t be surprised if Finn won the title back. I don’t see it that way, with the brand split looming I can see him being one of the big picks for either Smackdown or Raw. Probably Smackdown, which of course means he’ll be losing tonight.

Winner: Samoa Joe

The Nice Guys (Film Review)

Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down? Simple, spoiler free reviews.

In 1977 Los Angeles fate turns the unlikely pair of Holland March (Ryan Gosling) a down-on-his-luck private eye and Jackson Healy (Russell Crowe) is a hired enforcer, who hurts people for a living, into partners. They are looking for a young woman named Amelia who has mysteriously disappearedTheir investigation takes them to dark places as anyone else who gets involved in the case seems to wind up dead.

Wow, what a lot of fun The Nice Guys is. Heck of a film, highly recommend it. It’s funny, charming and a tad violent. The characters of Healy and March are both disastrous in their own ways and balance out perfectly. They’re great characters and Crowe and Gosling are in fine form. I’m a big fan of both in general and this film is a great showcase for why. Personally I think Angourie Rice, who plays March’s daughter steals every scene she’s is in. It’s so common for me to criticise younger actors but you wont get any of that for her. She’s excellent.

The film might be slightly too long in honesty, but the film has a lot it wants and needs to tie up before the end so I can appreciate that.

Overall The Nice Guys is an excellent film, full of fun characters, good performances and twists.

Verdict: Thumbs Up
