Jurassic World [Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down]

Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down – Keeping film reviews short, to the point and most importantly SPOILER FREE! Keep it simple. Would you recommend this film or not?

Jurassic World is the in canon reboot sequel to the original Jurassic Park trilogy. Which begs the question, after all of that Dino destruction how the hell did they end up opening this park after all? How did they get this past the first health and safety risk assessment?

Chris Pratt stars as Owen Grady, a navy veteran who has been training velociraptors. While Vic Hoskins (Vincent D’Onofrio) from InGen security believes that they could be used by the military. Because he’s an idiot. Speaking of idiots the scientists at the park have designed a new dinosaur, which is a super killing machine. Which obviously, as is tradition, breaks out and causes havoc.

Seriously, you still haven’t improved your enclosures after all this time? Somebody needs to get fired!

So how is it? Well, it’s the second best film in the Jurassic Park/World universe. Sitting comfortably ahead of Jurassic Park two and three but it can’t beat the original due to the fact that we’ve seen this premise before and it was done better the first time. It was still really cool though. Chris Pratt is fun as you’d expect and the rest of the cast play their parts well too. Although the young brothers can be slightly annoying at times.

Do I recommend it? Of course. If you’re a fan of the original trilogy then you’ll enjoy this film. The only question I have is this, will the already confirmed sequels let down this new trilogy like they did with the original?

Verdict: Thumbs Up
